# Left lateral decubitus position during sedation-free transnasal endoscopy: A pilot study

When it comes to sedation-free transnasal endoscopy (TNE) in children, positioning is more than just a matter of comfort—it may impact safety, tolerance, and procedural success. Traditionally, pediatric TNE has followed adult protocols, favoring the upright seated position. But is that the best choice for young patients, especially those prone to dizziness or fainting?

This new pilot study explores the use of the **Left Lateral Decubitus (LLD) position** during sedation-free TNE in children. The findings? The LLD position was not only **feasible and safe** but also **well tolerated**—and may even be **superior to the upright position** for certain children, particularly those with **orthostatic intolerance.**
